84. It is reported that Jabir heard two of his followers cursing a man who was unknown to him, so he also cursed him. The two men asked him, 'How can you curse a man without clear evidence of his error?' It is reported that Dumam b. al-Saib, one of the early leading scholars of the Ibadhi school, was sitting with a (waliy) believer when a certain man was mentioned, and Dhumam's companion spoke ill of him. Dumam said, 'Hush, do not do that.' The man said, 'May God be dissociated from him.' ( ) So Dumam said, 'May God be dissociated from you'. ( ).
