the isnāds of this tradition,1 and it is likely that it originated in his time. The same doctrine is ascribed to 'Umar in a tradition which has 'Aṭā' in the isnād (ibid.); this tradition implies the same controversy as the first, and presumably belongs to the same period; this shows the mention of 'Aṭā' in the īsnād to be spurious.
